Beef Stroganoff

I've never made beef stroganoff before and have only eaten it a handful of times in my life, but, having almost a container of sour cream that needed to be used up, I googled for recipe ideas - lo and behold, up popped beef stroganoff.  This recipe is what I based my dish on.  Again, like all my other food experiments, I only follow the recipe loosely and add my own flair to it (meaning using whatever I have at home...hehe).

INGREDIENTS:
beef
wine (did not measure...but enough to marinate the beef)
half yellow onion, diced (medium sized)
crushed garlic (2-3 cloves)
olive oil
1.5 cup beef broth
3-4 tbsp of cornstarch
1 can sliced mushroom (I also threw in some dried mushroom)
sour cream (not sure how much was left in my container)
cream cheese (around 4 oz)
1 tsp of mustard powder

I used whatever beef I had at home (not sure what kind) and cut it into strips.  Since I didn't really have any opened bottle of wine, I just marinated the beef in cooking wine.  I used olive oil instead of butter to cook the beef, onion and garlic.  I browned the beef strips first and set them aside - then I cooked onion & garlic before adding canned mushroom and beef broth.  Finally added the beef back into the sauce and let it simmer on low for about an hour.  Added in the sour cream and cream cheese just prior to serving over a plate of pasta.
